GRAFT is part of 50 FÜR BAD BERLIN auction at Berlin Art Week
GRAFT is among the 50 artists and architects who donated one of their works for the benefit auction for the non-profit organization Fluss Bad Berlin. The 50 for Bad Berlin auction will take place as part of Berlin Art Week on September 12 in the Red Hall of the Berliner Bauakademie - a place that invites questions about the sustainable planning, construction and operation of buildings and housing projects.
FLUSS BAD BERLIN is an urban development project that advocates a new use for the approximately 1.9 km long, unused Spree Canal in the historic center of Berlin: The water is to be made accessible via steps along the banks, the water quality is to be improved and swimming is to be made possible again.
The BIRDHOUSE architectural model was created in 2018 for a design special by the Süddeutsche Zeitung, in which the task of designing an extraordinary birdhouse was answered by 50 well-known designers. The GRAFT birdhouse consists of 36 parts cut from MDF panels and then glued together and was originally based on a parametric spatial concept for an island in Kuala Lumpur.
